The longest-tenured team in all of NASCAR® racing, Wood Brothers
Racing, has a deep and rich history in motorsports. With Glenn Wood
wheeling the family’s No. 21 race car and his younger brother Leonard
turning the wrenches to make the car a winning one, the Wood Brothers
legacy began in 1950. Since, the Wood Brothers operation - which is
still owned and operated by the Wood family - has continued on for more
than 70 years with some of the sport’s most legendary drivers behind the
wheel.
The latest driver to wheel the No. 21 car, Harrison Burton, will be
paying homage to the early days of the Wood Brothers Racing team during
the Official Throwback Weekendof NASCAR® at Darlington Raceway. Burton’s
DEX Imaging Ford Mustang will feature a retro paint scheme that
replicates the hand-painted look of the “Leonard Wood Special” No. 21
that Glenn Wood drove in the team’s early days.
